i feel that olympism is about competing with one another with integrity. Even when one is about to lose they should not cheat in the competition. In olympism, having sportsmanship is very important as it help to build respect, integrity, friendship and teamwork in a team. One should always listen to the leader of the team and should work with other team members. They should not do whatever they likes and forget about their team when they are competing. Even when the team loses, the team members should not blames one another for the mistake, where else, they should work together and try to think of a better strategy the next time.

Firstly, Olympism is a philosophy of life combining important qualities in the body, will and mind. It seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort and the respect for universal fundamental and ethnical values. It is to allow every country to shine their abilities of sportsmanship. Every person that participates will learnt themselves like endurance, respect, teamwork. Hence, it is also to see what their country standard, if they are participating world olympics. Hence, it is a good event to train every person that participates. =D

Hello! Updating about Youth Olympic Games. We are only 15 months away from YOG. In order to spread olympism among the students in our school, teachers and students have put in the effort to organise Olympic Education Programmes. For example, we had assembly talks on Olympism. Besides, our teachers oraganise an event called Ultimate Deyian Challenge(UDC) which was held in an Olympic way. We can say that it was like a mini Olympic games. We had a lot of fun too.
Many of them would wonder how to play a part to make the Youth Olympic Games a successful one.
There’re two ways to become a YOG Volunteer:
1. If you’re a student, there’re many opportunities to get involved in the YOG through your school. :
- For students in the ITEs, polytechnics, and universities, please approach your student affairs office for more information or click here.
- For students in the primary and secondary schools, and junior colleges, please bear with us a little longer. We're working closely with the Ministry of Education to come up with exciting opportunities for you to be part of the YOG heartbeat. In-the-works are the Schools-NOC Twinning Programme where your school may get to host youths from other parts of the world, and other ways for you to be involved through your CCAs such as NCC, NPCC, photography, student presenters, and many more. Watch this space for more announcements in the coming months!
2. If you’ve already left school, and will be at least 18 years old on 1 March 2010, we welcome you to register with us as an individual volunteer; please click here. By understanding what’s involved in becoming a YOG Volunteer, you can tell us what you can do and like to do, and we will do our best to match you to the right volunteering opportunities.
3. If individuals who possess technical or specialist expertise with regards to specific sports can also consider approaching the respective National Sports Associations (NSAs). Your expertise might be put to better use with the NSAs. Please click here.
Like an Olympic athlete, a YOG Volunteer needs heaps of passion and commitment because you will need to train for your job, and there will be a lot of hard work during the Games (but also lots of fun!).

Personal view of the values of Olympism
To me , as a student, the Youth Olympic Games show me the values that also applies in my life too.
One of the Aspects of the YOG values is friendship. Friendship is utmost important to me, friendship gives me the strength to continue to strive in this society and is important in a team , for example in the midst of accomplishing a project, we need the trust among one another to create a good result for teamwork is best with trust and understanding with each member of the team. Friendship allows us to achieve what one can do, encourages one to strive and make things more fun for people.
The 2nd aspect of the YOG values is respect. We respect one another in their performance and culture to maintain peace. As of athletes, even though they are competing against one another for the medals and honour, however they still respect each other and hope everyone to perform their best in the event and would wish that everyone is of equal grounds as everyone e.g. not taking performing-enhancement drugs and steroids.
The 3rd aspect of the YOG values is excellence. Excellence is the contributions and performance of the people, excellence is important as it shows what the people contribute to a certain amount of extent. It is also proof that what can people do and the pride they take in their performance. We also must strive for excellence and perform with greater heights.
